At iStrategyLabs, we’re fortunate to have a number of really fun clients to work with. StudentCity is certainly one of those, and yesterday we launched a facebook application for them called Spring Break, which you can install here. It’s an app that fleshes out perhaps the most fun part of the social graph: your Spring Break itinerary. This version of the app includes a leader board so you can see globally what the top 10 destinations and weeks for all spring breakers are, but also allows for segmenting down to the network level.

Okay, so maybe that part isn’t the MOST fun part. But, what is, is the ability to Challenge or Dare your friends to do certain things on spring break - some of those challenges or dares are not appropriate for this post, so you’ll just have to click through and install to see them all and have some fun yourself!

iStrategyLabs is interested in building communities around technology, so when it comes to DevCamps, we love organizing and sponsoring them whenever possible.

There will be at least 4 DevCamps in Washington DC over the next year, and the first one is WidgetDevCamp on 1/25 and 1/26. Peter Corbett is co-organizing and iStrategyLabs is a sponsor.

What is WidgetDevCamp?

WidgetDevCamp is a DevCamp-style event in Washington DC for anyone interested in Widget and modular app development.

It will be a chance for discussion, learning and some collaborative widget hacking. Come and share information on the latest topics in widget development, and see what kinds of prototypes can be built with a group of smart folks together in one place for a day or two.

Designers, developers, product marketers — anyone interested in the potential of widgets and other distributed applications (including Facebook/OpenSocial) — come on out!

You can RSVP for the event here. And full details can be found at WidgetDevCamp.org.

Peter Corbett originally presented this at Media Future Now in Washington, DC on 1/15/2008.

This video discusses the increasing importance of Social Media and it’s effects on publishers. The video also contains information on what the Social Graph is and how to leverage it for marketing purposes.
