Peter, I agree with you completely that Vivek has shown great leadership and what Marc wrote was extreme.

I guess just one thing to clarify. I don't think that Marc would be classified as a reporter. He's more of an opinion columnist.

He's expressing an extreme opinion probably with the sole purpose of getting folks talking and reading his column. Guess what... he's been 100% successful.

Look at his other posts. How many others have 45 comments? The closest has 15. Marc should buy you a steak to say thank you for all the free traffic you've given him.

Glad you and other technophilies in DC got some attention! The comments on Marc Fisher's article are more insightful than his original article -- which is not always the case. This speaks to an enlightened readership, and perhaps, a less-than-enlightened author.

Amen. For all those fiscal conservatives out there, free market corporations use off-sites all the time for goal setting, team building, etc. They see them as worthy uses of money and time. Why shouldn't government teams leverage the same basic tactic?

Great point, Peter.

People, especially those who have not run a for profit business tend to forget the following:

1. It takes money to make money; but also
2. It takes money to save money; and
3. It even takes money to spend money.

So all this whining about Big 3 CEOs taking separate private jets, etc. is making a mountain out of a molehill.
