Things are certainly heating up in the District of Columbia in preparation for a myriad of inauguration related a events. We’re playing a small part in getting the word out about certain activities and I’d like to share two things with you related to our work with Destination DC - the lead organization focused on managing and marketing Washington, DC as a premier global convention, tourism and special events destination, with a special emphasis on the arts, cultural and historical communities.

A couple months back, Destination DC asked us to develop a microsite for the upcoming Lincoln Bicentennial celebration which you can see here:

Instead of simply cranking out a microsite in expectation of a number of other projects coming down the pike like this, we though deeply about our client’s needs, and realized that they’d want to create 5 or 6 similar sites like this over the next year or so. We came back with a strategy that called for the creation of a Wordpress powered microsite creation tool that would give Destination DC the ability to rapidly deploy new microsites with little or no help from us.  This strategy delivers huge value beyond a single microsite being created, saving the organization the cost of creating microsites each time they need to promote an event in the city.

At the heels of the coming Obama inauguration, Destination DC was able to deploy a microsite for the Lincoln 2.0 Ball with just a few minutes of support from us, and now they’re ready to let the world know that this is the event you won’t want to miss during inauguration season.

If you’re hungry for more inauguration insights from the official source of tourism information in DC, Destination DC has been busy setting up a digital footprint for your convenience:

Perhaps this is long over due, but iStrategyLabs is 14 months old now and we’ve never codified our philosophy before, nor have we introduced a “formal capabilities deck” as a part of how we market ourselves to clients.

We’ve been fortunate enough to grow from a one man shop to a 15+ per team of talented technologists, strategist and creatives purely through organic growth. I think it’s important for the team and the community around us to understand how we think and what exactly it is that we do, because there are so many ways that iStrategyLabs now, and in the future, will be an asset to those around us.

For your viewing pleasure our “Philosophy and Methods for Solving Clients’ Problems” is embed below and you can download the PDF here:

I’d love to hear your feedback on this. What do you think?

Today, we’re proud to announce another product of the lab that’s ready for prime time. Bloom, our most recent creation, will officially launch tomorrow at Twin Tech II (yet another iStrategyLabs experiment that will be bringing together 1,200 of the capital region’s brightest technologists/entrepreneurs/investors and creatives).

Bloom is a new creative service offered by iStrategyLabs. The idea behind Bloom is pretty simple: we work with businesses and non-profits to create engaging, brand-focused content for their websites.

In practical terms, that means shooting and editing short videos, creating motion graphic animations, producing podcasts, managing blogs, and writing website copy.

But Bloom does more than produce stunning creative. Drawing on an expertise in brand strategy, Bloom’s content strategists work closely with clients to help shape the message before content creation begins. Our goal is always to marry the strategic and the creative, and serve as a real partner in producing thoughtful content. And, because it’s powered by iStrategyLabs, all the social media strategy you can handle is baked into our content delivery methods. Here are just a few of the social media tools we use for content creation and distribution.

iStrategyLabs is happy to have Zach Goodwin as our lead Content Strategist for Bloom. He’s the go to guy for all inquiries, and will be responsible for working with the broader iStrategyLabs talent pool to execute content creation projects for our clients. Here’s a little bit more on Zach:istrategylabswiredones.gif

Zach Goodwin is an art director, designer and brand/content strategist with iStrategyLabs. Recently, he has taken the lead on launching Bloom, iStrategyLab’s content creation service for websites. Outside of iStrategyLabs, Zach serves as principal at Crafty Mice Design, a DC-based design boutique (we’re going to need to buy him out at some point probably!!). Zach brings a unique blend of brand and business thinking to his creative work, having spent time in management consulting, PR and film production. You can connect with Zach here (email) and here (twitter).

We call the community of people that we work with “The Wired Ones”. We have a web series focused on thought leadership from folks like that, and there are physical events we’ll be producing in the future that will bring this group together. In the mean time, if you’re one of the people represented in this graphic to the right, please enter our talent portal here, and let us know what you’d like to work on with us!
