We’re honored (and flattered) to be nominated for the Greater Washington Board of Trade’s “Most Engaged Small Business Award”!

Michelle Hoffman, of Hoffman CFO Consulting - an accounting services company specializing in software and e-commerce companies - was thoughtful enough to submit the nomination as follows:

Summary:

Peter Corbett’s business helps companies develop and implement interactive marketing strategies.  Because many interactive marketing strategies involve components of technology, he is closely aligned with the movers and shakers of innovative technology and is a wonderful advocate for technology in DC.

Involvement:

Peter is doing amazing things to promote DC and the greater DC area.  His web site includes surveys helping the District of Columbia to determine the needs of small businesses, great blogs relevant to DC business, and announcements for creative events that bring together many players in the DC area business community.  He hosts events that attract entrepreneurs from all over the northeast.

Leadership:

I am most impressed by Peter’s leadership role in rallying the DC area technology community and those who support it.  In the aftermath of the untimely 2008 demise of the DC Technology Council, it seemed no one would take up the mantra of technology for DC. Peter has single handedly galvanized the DC area technology masses, successfully partnering with the established Northern Virginia Technology Council to promote, rally and unite technology entrepreneurs and investors in creative events such as Twin Tech I and II. Because of him, there is hope for the future of technology in DC. He has done something the government of DC wants to, but has not been able to effectively do—spread the word that DC is a great place for technology companies to call home.  While most technology companies remain unaware of the DC government’s Qualified High Tech Company designation, which offers great tax breaks to technology companies in DC, they know about Peter and his events.

And it goes on…

One thing that is very important to mention, which is relevant for any DC tech business person reading this article, was further highlighted in Michelle’s email to me:  DC offers Qualifed High Tech Companies with a host of tax breaks.

A detailed explanation of the QHTC program is available here as a PDF. Off the top of my head I think this document will be a good read for my friends at nclud, SocialTimes, LivingSocial, SocialCash, JobMatchBox, ShareMeme, Intridea an host of others!

It’s taken a year and three weeks of working 20 hour days, with sometimes 10-20 virtual team members spread across the country, to get to the point where a) an office space was necessary and b) we could afford to have the kind of space that would live up to iStrategyLabs mission of being the most creative and innovative digital marketing lab in town (we’ll go for “in the world” over the next few year).

It’s my pleasure to share the following photos and videos of our Dupont location, which features two floors, a rooftop and a dumbwaiter in a condo-style format that is just perfect for the kind of vibe we’re looking for. We plan to have TONS of events and meetups here - especially on what is the ONLY rooftop space on Dupont Circle North itself…we really lucked out with this one, so check it out!:

Today, we’re proud to announce another product of the lab that’s ready for prime time. Bloom, our most recent creation, will officially launch tomorrow at Twin Tech II (yet another iStrategyLabs experiment that will be bringing together 1,200 of the capital region’s brightest technologists/entrepreneurs/investors and creatives).

Bloom is a new creative service offered by iStrategyLabs. The idea behind Bloom is pretty simple: we work with businesses and non-profits to create engaging, brand-focused content for their websites.

In practical terms, that means shooting and editing short videos, creating motion graphic animations, producing podcasts, managing blogs, and writing website copy.

But Bloom does more than produce stunning creative. Drawing on an expertise in brand strategy, Bloom’s content strategists work closely with clients to help shape the message before content creation begins. Our goal is always to marry the strategic and the creative, and serve as a real partner in producing thoughtful content. And, because it’s powered by iStrategyLabs, all the social media strategy you can handle is baked into our content delivery methods. Here are just a few of the social media tools we use for content creation and distribution.

iStrategyLabs is happy to have Zach Goodwin as our lead Content Strategist for Bloom. He’s the go to guy for all inquiries, and will be responsible for working with the broader iStrategyLabs talent pool to execute content creation projects for our clients. Here’s a little bit more on Zach:istrategylabswiredones.gif

Zach Goodwin is an art director, designer and brand/content strategist with iStrategyLabs. Recently, he has taken the lead on launching Bloom, iStrategyLab’s content creation service for websites. Outside of iStrategyLabs, Zach serves as principal at Crafty Mice Design, a DC-based design boutique (we’re going to need to buy him out at some point probably!!). Zach brings a unique blend of brand and business thinking to his creative work, having spent time in management consulting, PR and film production. You can connect with Zach here (email) and here (twitter).

We call the community of people that we work with “The Wired Ones”. We have a web series focused on thought leadership from folks like that, and there are physical events we’ll be producing in the future that will bring this group together. In the mean time, if you’re one of the people represented in this graphic to the right, please enter our talent portal here, and let us know what you’d like to work on with us!
