Awesome work, Peter. Kudos to you and the team.
What an awesome way to make it seem like you’re part of the event!

It’s much more than ’seeming like’ you’re a part of it. Participants will be integral to it!

I’m glad this is finally public. When we talked about it in that little Greek diner a couple of weeks ago I was wondering how you’d share it with the world.
The concept of bringing influencers to events is not a new thing. I think it is something that more brands are going to begin doing (at least I hope so). What I love about this concept is that it adds on top of it and takes it a step further. By having a structure it brings that metaphor of gathering around a campfire to a whole new level.
What I’m really interested in is how this evolves over time and if it can truly be leveraged into almost a tribe or a living social connection where it doesn’t have a social network site, but it happens often enough in a variety of locations that it allows people who are part of it to truly connect. That sounds way more touchy feely then I meant it to, but I’m sure you know where I’m coming from.
Thanks for sharing.

@cc_chapman as per usual you’re dead on. This idea was born for the notion that there’s a ‘digital tribe’ out there that’s moving so fast that they need ‘magnetic’ anchor points in time and space to draw them together. SXSW could be considered the annual ‘holy pilgrimage’ for this group - and whoever has attended in the past knows that a years worth of relationship building is done in mere hours when they get together in person.

That is all.

Peter,
This is such a cool idea, and it takes someone like you to actually make it happen. Much kudos. I think it would be great if the structure itself was part of the experience, IE cameras everywhere, streaming the experience as if you are actually on the lawn. Placement of it becomes crucial.

@zviband you’re right about that. The Wired Ones will be directly integrated into the festival properties…you’ll walk by it, drop in, play with new technology, watch web-celebs do their thing, and interactive with this ‘digital community’. There will be cameras provided, streaming in the dome and to the web, and a lot of other fun things for media makers to play with!

This looks pretty frickin’ cool. Can’t wait to see it in action!
